The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site preserves the Ansley Wilcox House in Buffalo, New York, where Theodore Roosevelt became the 26th President of the United States on September 14, 1901.
It's one of the most amazing and improbable moments in American history. It's the story of a man thrust into national prominence following great tragedy. A man who went on to become one of the most influential U.S. Presidents of all time. And you can experience it for yourself, at the house where Theodore Roosevelt was sworn into office, where the modern presidency began, and where a legend was introduced to the world.

With a combination of historically restored rooms and interactive exhibits, you'll feel as if you are part of the events of that fateful September, while gaining a new perspective on the issues Roosevelt faced during his presidency.

Experience the optimism and excitement of Buffalo's 1901 Pan-American Exposition. Stand in the room where Roosevelt was sworn in as the 26th President of the United States. See and hear the challenges the country faced as Roosevelt became President. And explore Roosevelt's presidency and legacy through a variety of interactive activities.
