"The Future Is Now: Where Is Jazz Headed?" with series producer Bruce Eaton
Concert 3 pm

With a sound all his own, pianist/composer Robert Glasper is truly a jazz artist for the twenty-first century. While drawing frequent comparisons to Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Bill Evans, and Thelonious Monk for his solo work, and taking on sideman roles with Terence Blanchard and Christian McBride, Glasper has collaborated extensively with hip-hop and neo-soul icons like The Roots, J Dilla, Maxwell, Q-Tip, and Kanye West. The result is music that is "direct, forceful, inventive, and accessible without pandering" (New York). www.robertglasper.com

With his trio featuring master drummer Eliot Zigmund, best known for his work with Bill Evans and Michel Petrucciani, each Malinverni concert is a singular musical experience of lyrical grace and joyful exploration. www.petemalinverni.com
