Bring the little monsters to Elmwood!  On Saturday, October 30, 2010 the Elmwood Village will be hosting a Safe Trick-or-Treat and Halloween Spooktacular sale from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Parents should look for large orange pumpkin posters advertising “Get Your Treats Here” in shops along Elmwood Avenue indicating they will be providing candy for the little ones.

The University Community Farmers Market at Buffalo South Campus features a variety of new and old vendors and selling fresh food and local products.

The market will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through Oct. 16 on the Main Street sidewalk at Kenmore Avenue. Attendees can park for free in the Allen, Main and Bailey parking lots on the South Campus, directly behind the market across from the University Plaza.

The market is coordinated by a planning committee and a new market manager this year.

Buffalo First is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization comprised of local independent "Main Street" businesses, organizations and concerned citizens. Their mission is to build a local, green and fair economy in the Buffalo-Niagara region. They encourage people to shop locally, help independent businesses access local goods and services and give independent businesses a united voice to shape better policies for local independent and green businesses. The goal is to root more dollars here, preserve community, and create a healthier environment.

One of Western New York’s favorite annual traditions, the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market is conveniently located at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway in Buffalo. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Dec. 18.

The market features more than 30 vendors offering fruits, vegetables, baked goods, organics, fresh meat, cut flowers, wine, eggs, dairy, honey and much more in an open-air setting. Products available at the Market are always fresh, seasonal and local.
